" At this respite from pressured city dining, your sega wot, a spicy lamb stew, and gomen, garlicky collard greens, are ladled atop spongy injera (bread) that's made from a mixture of wheat flour and traditional teff flour. Warm orange walls feature portraits of Ethiopian kings; beautiful wood lanterns softly light a room filled with Columbia University folk and East African expats. Your server won't expect you to know her cuisine, and she won't shove you out the door for the next customer. Sure, the credit card machine may be on the blink and the kitchen might be out of what you want—but if you relax for a second, she'll find you something just as good.
